Gritty Portrait

  1. Very good... Almost coarse. I mean surely a coarse texture which was surely sought after. Some will like... and I do. It's so different from the usual smooth-olooking portraits that can be found everywhere, including what I do! :-)

    You must have used a short, closed lens to get all that detail. Perhaps a blue filter? That's what I would try in post-processing - if the black and white were to be made during post-processing, that is. :-)

  2. Well Roger, you are right about the lens, it was my 50mm F1.8D, used on the Nikon D90. Extremely sharp and contrasty lens to start off with and then some judicious post processing to achieve the desired effect. I think it was at f8.
